This morning, slightly out of it, I went to meet my family for brunch in Wicker Park. By chance some of my fellow Astronaut Theatre Sketch Group Members were already at the same spot.
As I waited for my family, I stood by their table chatting. I felt someone tap me on the shoulder. I turned around to see a rather hipster good looking “waiter” holding a chair.
Guy: Hey, do you need a chair?
Me: Oh, me? Yeah actually that’d be great. Also can I have a Sprite when you get a chance?
Guy: Um. Yeah, do you need anything else?
Me: Just the Sprite.
The guy then walks back to his table to sit with his two friends. NOT A WAITER! Awkwardness instantly sets in.
Me: OMG you’re not a waitor. You are SO nice. Um, thank you for the chair. You don’t have to get me a Sprite.
Guy: I know.
Me: Right, well okay- thanks again. Oh my god, I am the worst. You are really too nice.
Guy: I want you to have your Sprite. Do you need anything else? I don’t want you to give me a bad Yelp review.
Me: No I think I’m good.
What is my problem? I don’t know either, but I would like to say sorry again to that guy. I hope he had a great rest of his weekend. Quite a hilarious situation.
